Construction of the Coastal Port

gk.gif (39936 bytes)Completed the investment of 43.76 bullion RMB for coastal ports construction in 1993 (including Tianjin, Yantian port of Shenzhen, Xiamen ports, similarly hereinafter), which is 118.4 percent of the planned. The Ministry of Communication invested 27.32 billion RMB and the concerned provinces and cities invested 6.04 billion RMB. Tianjin port and Yantian port of Shenzhen City made an investment of 12.4 billion RMB (not listed in the program of the Ministry of Communication, and it carried out the professional management). 17 large & medium scale programs on coastal construction (with 12 projects of reasonable time limit), have been arranged, which completed the investment of 34.69 billion RMB (with the complementation of investment of 19.59 billion RMB for projects with reasonable time limit). Such berths as for bulk grain at the Bingding wharf of Qinhuangdao port have been completed construction and gone into operation in succession. Altogether 60 berths were established in the principal coastal ports, local coastal ports and land-island transportation ports in 1993, of which composed 19 deep water berths, 9 medium-sized berths and 32 small-sized berths, processing the throughout capacity of 31.72 million tons.

As for the construction of the coastal ports in 1994, 37.27 billion RMB was invested, 125.1 percent of the year plan. The Ministry of Communication centralized the arrangement for the investment of 32. 07 billion RMB (including Tianjin port, Yantian port of Shenzhen City). 17 large- & medium-sized projects of coastal ports were arranged (including 14 projects provided directly by the Ministry of Communication and 3 projects arranged by local provinces, cities of Autonomous Regions) and 34.76 billion RMB was invested. 1994 witnessed the completion of 8 key projects, 81 berths, of which composed 20 deep water berths, 21 medium-sized berths and 40 small-sized berths, which increased the throughout capacity of 2.854 million tons.

In 1995, 11 large- & medium-sized projects of coastal ports in the transportation system were completed, among which are 10 key construction projects. 12 deep water berths were established (excluding Tianjin port, Yantian port of Shenzhen city, Xiamen port), which increased the throughout capacity of 4,700,000 tons and roll-on-roll-off vehicles to 190,000. By the end of 1995, the deep water berths in the coastal ports in transportation system (including the number of berth down from the Nanjing Yantze River) had been reached 412 and the total throughout capacity designed reached 7.117 billion tons.
