Xiamen Dismantles Illegal Aquacultural Facilities

The marine surveillance brigade spotted some newly established aquacultural facilities in the sea areas near to the Tong'an Bay, some of which have occupied the main sea-route. To crack down on these unlawful activities, the brigade has dismantled over 10 thousand meters of nets and more than 3000 plastic foams in the around 1000 mu of sea areas.

The increasingly expanded aquacultural areas adjacent to the Tong'an Bay result from the compensation for the building of new gas power plant. To get the local fishermen's loss repaid, they occupied a large area of sea for aquaculture. They were found to have established some phony facilities using ropes and foams just in order to occupy the sea area.

To safeguard the smooth navigation from Xiamen to Jinmen, the brigade kept a high alert on the illegal activities. All the illegal facilities found by them have been dismantled. This action has effectively held back the momentum of unlawful occupation, thus ensuring the legal users' rights in sea utilization.
